Griffen went on to play in the NFL for 7 years with the Cincinnati Bengals. He played in one Super Bowl, Super Bowl XVI, which Cincinnati lost to San Francisco 26-21.

The player was Daniel "Rudy" Ruettiger. The movie about him and his quest to play for the Fighting Irish is the popular Rudy, which came in at number 7 on Nutty About Sports' 50 Best Sports Movies list, the top football movie on the list (see: The Best Football Movies). The movie was the first that Notre Dame allowed to be filmed on campus since the 1940 classic Knute Rockne All American, which came in #45 on the Best Movie List.

Super Bowl VI, with a temperature at kickoff of 39 degrees Fahrenheit, was the coldest ever played. The game took place at Tulane Stadium in New Orleans, LA on January 16, 1972. The winners of the game were the Dallas Cowboys, who defeated the Miami Dolphins 24-3.

It is interesting to note that the second coldest Super Bowl was also played in Tulane Stadium. The temperature for Super Bowl IX played at Tulane Stadium in New Orleans was 46 degrees Fahrenheit. In that game the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Minnesota Vikings 16 to 6.

He surpassed Gary Anderson (32) on Saturday January 13th's playoff game against Baltimore when he accounted for all of the Colts points by kicking 5 field goals. Vinatieri's postseason field goal percentage is 81.0%.

Since Gary Anderson is no longer playing, and Adam is, one can only expect for Adam to add to his record.

Tomlinson eclipsed the record set by Green Bay Packer "Golden Boy" Paul Hornung who scored 176 points in 1960. Paul Hornung, who played fullback and place kicker for the Packers, was the 1956 Heisman Trophy winner as a quarterback at Notre Dame quarterback. He was a two time NFL Player of the Year (1960 & 1961). In addition to his scoring as a fullback, Hornung also had 66 field goals and 190 PATs in his career as a place kicker.
