Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL)

The Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) was formed in 2001 with six teams from the disbanding National Professional Soccer League (NPSL), which itself was founded as the American Indoor Soccer Association in 1984. The league currently consists of eight teams.

Major Indoor Soccer plays soccer in indoor arenas on a field that must be between 175 and 210 feet long, and 75 to 100 feet wide. MISL plays the standard North American version of indoor soccer, which is different from the FIFA-sanctioned futsal (the indoor version of association football). While similar to outdoor soccer there are many rules differences, the largest of which scoring. In MISL soccer there is a three-point arc. All goals from beyond the arc are worth three points. All other goals are worth two points (for a complete description of the rules click here).

Major Indoor Soccer League Playoffs

The top four teams qualify for the playoffs with the first seed playing the fourth seed, and the second seed playing the third seed. The first round of the playoffs is a two game series with a sudden death tiebreaker. The winners of the first round series play in a two game championship series.

Following is a brief synopsis of the MISL and a listing of all MISL teams.
