National Lacrosse League (NLL)
The National Lacrosse League, or NLL, was founded in 1997 from the Major Indoor Lacrosse League (MILL). NLL lacrosse games are played indoors on an ice hockey rink, with glass and rink boards intact. The field consists of a green turf carpet that is laid down over the hockey ice.
Games consist of four fifteen minute quarters with two minutes between quarters and a 12 minute half time. Each team fields five runners and a goalie. Players rotate on and off the floor in shifts, similar to ice hockey. Any game that is tied at the end of four quarters is decided in a sudden-death overtime. There are no tie games in the National Lacrosse League.
The NLL fields 13 teams in two divisions, the East Division which consists of 7 teams, and the West Division, which consists of 6 teams. Two of the teams, Chicago and New York are new to the league in 2007. Following is a brief synopsis of NLL and a listing of all NLL teams.

National Lacrosse League Playoffs
The top four teams in each National Lacrosse League division make the playoffs. The format of the playoffs is three single game elimination rounds. In round 1 (the division semi-finals) the division's number 1 seed plays the number 4 seed and the number 2 and 3 seeds play each other. The winners advance to the division finals to determine each division's champion. The two division champions then play each other for the championship of the National Lacrosse League.
