Major League Lacrosse (MLL)
Major League Lacrosse, or MLL, was founded in 2001 with six teams - Baltimore Bayhawks, Boston Cannons, Long Island Lizards, New Jersey Pride, Philadelphia Barrage and Rochester Rattlers. Four more teams were added with the 2006 season - Chicago Machine, Denver Outlaws, Los Angeles Riptide and the San Francisco Dragons.
Major League Lacrosse plays the traditional field version of lacrosse with some rules variations intended to add some "new dynamics" to the game. Rules changes include:
- A two-point goal line 15 yards from each goal
- A 60-second shot clock
- A limit of three long-stick defense men per team
- A new orange ball to help sports fans more easily follow the game and to enhance telecasts
MLL fields 10 teams in two conferences, the Eastern Conference which consists of 6 teams, and the Western Conference, which consists of 4 teams. Following is a brief synopsis of MLL and a listing of all MLL teams.
