United Indoor Football (UIF)
United Indoor Football (UIF) is an indoor professional football league based in the midwest. The league was founded in 2005 by team owners who took their teams from the National Indoor Football League or the AF2. The league has played two complete seasons (2005, and 2006).
UIF games are played on an indoor field that is 50 yards long and 28 yards wide. The goal posts are 9 feet from the field and 9 feet wide. Each team fields an eight player team. Two offensive players are allowed to go in motion at the same time. Only one defensive player may blitz at a time. In a UIF game there is no punting. Kickoffs are from the goal line and if the kickoff goes through the opposing team's end zone the ball is paced 5 yards from mid-field on the 20 yard line.
UIF scoring is similar, but not the same as traditional outdoor football, as follows:
- Touchdown = 6 points
- PAT = 1 point for PAT kick, and a run or pass = 2 points
- Defensive conversion (after touchdown) = 2 points
- Safety = 2 points
- Field goal = 3 points by placement or 4 points for drop kick
- Rouge = 1 point for kickoff team if the receiving team does not advance the ball out of the end zone
United Indoor Football Playoffs
The UIF playoffs consist of two rounds leading up to the United Bowl, the championship of the league. The first round of the playoffs pits the Eastern Conference number 4 seed against the number 1 seed, and the number 3 seed against the number 2 seed. The first round match ups are the same for the Western Conference. The second round, or Conference Finals pits the two Eastern Conference winners against each other and the two Western Conferences winners against each other. The Conference champions advance to play in the United Bowl.
