American Football League (AFL) - AFL Championships

From the formation of the American Football League (AFL) through 1970 when the league merged with the NFL, there was an AFL Championship Game to determine the champion of the American Football League. At the same time, the NFL was crowning an NFL champion in the NFL Championship Game. At the end of the 1966 season, the first Super Bowl was played to crown an undisputed professional football champion (in January of 1967).
