Grey Cup Championships
Since 1954, the Grey Cup has been the championship of the Canadian Football League (CFL). Prior to that, the Grey Cup was open to competition only for teams that were registered with the Canada Rugby Union.
The CFL Playoffs
Six teams make the CFL playoffs. The semifinal round matches up the teams who finished the regular season second and third in their respective divisions. The East Championship game matches up the East semifinal winner with the East team that had the best regular season record. Similarly, the West Championship game matches up the West semifinal winner with the West team that had the best regular season record. The Grey Cup Championship game pits the CFL East Division Champions against the CFL West Division Champions.
