American Indoor Football Association (AIFA)

The American Indoor Football Association (AIFA) is a professional indoor football league which was formed in October 2006 and will kick off its inaugural season on February 1, 2007. The league follows rules of play generally aligned with those of conventional football but not without significant differences. The playing field is 50 yards in length, each team is allowed only eight players on the field per play, and there are varied means of scoring points.

The league is starting with a field of fourteen teams separated into two divisions. Two expansion teams (one from New Jersey and the other from South Carolina) were unable to meet the full requirements for membership in 2007 but are invited to re-apply for future consideration. In addition to the current slate of teams, the Gulf Coast Pirates will exist in 2007 as a league-run developmental team targeted for full membership in 2008. The Pirates will play in a Florida city yet to be determined. Following is a brief synopsis of the AIFA and a listing of all AIFA teams:
