Af2

The Af2 (Arena Football 2) is the minor league of the Arena Football League (AFL). Af2 rules are identical to those of its parent league; however, its teams play in smaller cities and the league's emphasis is on player development and adaptability to the game's unique pace and style. The other principal difference between the Af2 and the AFL is the season schedule: the Af2 plays its games between April and July, starting and ending its schedule approximately two months later than its parent league.

Established in the year 2000, the Af2 has seen a great deal of fluctuation in its team membership since then, ranging from a high mark of 34 teams in 2002 to a low of 20 three years later. The league fielded 23 teams in 2006 and plans to expand to 30 teams in 2007 (losing two teams and gaining nine). Like its parent league, the Af2 is comprised of two Conferences (American and National). However, the league has three divisions (as opposed to the AFL's two) in each Conference. American Conference divisions are East, Midwest, and West. Divisions in the National Conference are Central, Southwest, and South. Following is a brief synopsis of the Af2 and a listing of all Af2 teams:
