Their name was picked in a name-the-team contest where the winner won season tickets for life. They are named after the western diamondback rattlesnake. They also go by the nicknames D-backs and the The Snakes. The Diamondbacks have always played at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona. The ballpark was known as Bank One Ballpark from 1998 to 2005. Although a young team, The Diamondbacks have 4 National League West titles to their credit, 1 National League Pennant, and a World Series victory in their only trip to the Series in 2001. |
