Major League Baseball 2007 Playoffs

Boston Red Sox Win 2007 World Series

In very similar fashion to their 2004 World Series victory, the Boston Red Sox swept past the Colorado Rockies 4 games to 0 to win the 2007 World Series. Their victory came on the road in Colorado. Boston third baseman Mike Lowel was named series MVP in a World Series that was characterized by major contributions from the whole team including rookies Jacoby Ellsbury (who started the season at Double-A Portland and spent most of it with Triple-A Pawtucket), Dustin Pedroia, Dice-K Matsuzaka, and game 4 winning pitcher and cancer survivor Jon Lester.

2007 World Series

The Colorado Rockies were the first team to make it to the 2007 "fall classic" by virtue of their 4 game sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks. The 2007 National League Pennant is the first in the team's history. The Rockies made it to the World Series with an 8-0 post season record and having won 21 of their last 22 games.

The Boston Red Sox made it into the "Fall Classic" by virtue of a come-from-behind series victory over the Cleveland Indians. The Sox had to come back from a 3-1 deficit to take the series 4-3 winning the American League Pennant at Fenway park in front of the "Fenway Faithful".
